da zoo

Well, we finally did it. We took our growling, animal loving little gal to the zoo... and not just any old zoo! Only the best for our little girl. So, this morning we trekked out to Brookfieldwith Grandma Hamstra and Johnny.... and the napless peanut thoroughly enjoyed the whole day. Here she with Grandma Hamstra all decked out in her matching accessories...

What's a little hat and sunglasses when you could have a giant shirt and tie? Bigger is so much better.

The petting zoo was clearly her favorite. She wasn't scared of the little goats at all... but she was very hesitant to touch them. She'd go to pet them and get an inch away from their fur and stand there. But, several times she was in the center of three or four large goats and she just looked at them.

At some point I'd like to put a short video clip of her petting the cow. She was a bit violent and sporatic with her pets but Mr. Cow didn't seem to mind.

After the hat and sunglasses went the shoes went too and she explored this little splash pond.

The monkeys were one of her favorite exhibits. I think because they move around so much. It was the most action we saw all day. Here she is pointing at them... and for those of you who know her well you know the growls followed shortly after!

The hot sun and excessive stimulation wore her out. Here she is lounging in her stroller... kicking back and having a cold one. She fell asleep within minutes of leaving the zoo a little over three hours later.

Johnny gave in and bought a family pass so we'll be back!!

i decided against a family pass since i didn't think it would be used that often. i think tish will be a little jealous.

ahhh.. the things you can do with a walking child. priya still refuses to walk more than five steps at a time. right now i'm hoping she makes up for all this delay by being a world class sprinter in about 16 years.

The petting zoo is definitely my kid's favorite too! So much more interesting that looking at an elephant stand perfectly still way over yonder! And the second favorite is... the monkeys! :) I hope we get to the zoo this year!

why would she want a pet when she clearly has daddy wrapped around her little finger (man she is cute!)? May she never lose that bond.

We let our memberships lapse, but I think once we buy Jenny a bike, we will renew it so we can ride around the zoo together.

I haven't ever been there. I am waiting to go with Miss Ju-ju once she can make the car ride there... ahh progress that will be.
I can't believe how grown-up Adeline looks in those photos... I know, I know stop. She still is in the nursery. That counts for something, right?
